White House National Economic Council (NEC) director Kevin Hassett said in a Fox Business interview on Monday that the U.S. has held a lot of discussions with the European Union (EU) and is making significant progress on tariff negotiations with the block. He added that the outcome will be very good for American workers, especially those in the auto industry.
According to Hassett, there are more than 10 trade deals on the table, with what he described as “very, very good, amazing offers” made to the U.S. However, it will be up to President Trump to decide when he is satisfied with the terms and how many deals to announce at once.
On the economy, Hassett said he is “100% not” expecting a recession in the U.S. this year, pointing to robust job numbers as evidence of continued economic strength.
