Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank president Neel Kashkari said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that he thinks it is appropriate to have the debate about potentially cutting rates in September.
The official noted that the balance of risks has shifted more towards the labour market and away from price pressures as inflation is making progress and the jobs market is showing some concerning signs.
Kashkari, however, added that he did not see any reason to reduce rates in increments of larger than 25 basis points.
