The European
Commission (EC) reported on Friday its flash estimate revealed the consumer
confidence indicator for the Eurozone increased by 0.5 percentage point to -12.9
in September from an upwardly unrevised -13.4 (from -13.5) in the previous
month. This was the highest reading since February 2022
(-9.4).
Economists
had predicted the index to increase to
-13.0 early this month.
Considering the
European Union (EU) as a whole, the consumer sentiment indicator also rose by 0.5 percentage point to -11.7 in September.
Given this month’s gains, both indicators have almost caught
up with their long-term averages.
