Ministry of
Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) announced on Monday that
India's consumer price index (CPI) surged 4.83
per cent y-o-y in April following an unrevised
4.85 per cent y-o-y climb in March. This marked the lowest annual inflation rate since May 2023 (4.31 per
cent) and represented the eighth straight month inflation remained within the
Reserve Bank of India's 2-6 per cent target range.
Economists had
predicted annual inflation to decelerate to 4.80 per cent in April.
