Eurozone’s consumer confidence improves marginally in January, matching expectations

The European Commission (EC) announced on Thursday its flash estimate revealed the consumer confidence indicator for the Eurozone inched up 0.3 percentage points to -14.2 in January 2025 from an unrevised -14.5 in the previous month. This marked the first increase in the index in three months.

Economists had expected the index to improve to -14.2 early this month.

Considering the European Union (EU) as a whole, the consumer sentiment indicator held steady at -13.3 in January.

Given this month’s performances, both indicators remained below their long-term averages.
