President-elect Donald Trump wrote in the Truth Social post that he spoke with China's President Xi Jinping. He added that the call was a very good one for both China and the US." It is my expectation that we will solve many problems together, and starting immediately," he added.
Trump also revealed that he discussed with the Chinese leader balancing trade, fentanyl, TikTok, and many other subjects and claimed that "President Xi and I will do everything possible to make the World more peaceful and safe!"
Meanwhile, Xi reportedly said that both of them place great importance on interactions and hope for a positive start to China-U.S. relations during Trump's new presidential term. However, he acknowledged that there are inevitable differences between China and the U.S., and the key is to respect each other's core interests and major concerns and find proper ways to resolve issues.
The Chinese president also highlighted that the question of Taiwan concerns China's national sovereignty and territorial integrity and expressed hope that Washington will handle it with great care. Xi added that both sides should strengthen cooperation based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation.
