The latest figures from the Ministry of Employment showed that in November the number of unemployed fell by 0.62% m/m or 16,036 people, to 2,586,018 people, while economists had expected an increase of 29,300. It was the lowest figure for this month since 2007. On an annual basis, the number of unemployed decreased by 148,813 people or by 5.44%.
Compared to October, the number of unemployed decreased in the services (-8.693 or -0.46%), industry (-2.268 people or -1.12%), construction (-2.124 or -1.08%), agriculture sector (-1.902 or -2.17%) and in the group with no previous employment (-1.049 or -0.43%).
Unemployment among women fell by 10,811 or 0.69%, to 1,556.800, while unemployment among men decreased by 5,225 or 0.51%, to 1,029,218. Unemployment among youth under the age of 25 decreased by 3,796 people or 1.89% compared to October, to 196,704 people.
