Canada announced on Monday that wholesale sales (excluding petroleum and
oilseed and grain) fell 0.8 per cent m-o-m to CAD82.23 billion in May, following
an unrevised 2.4 per cent m-o-m climb in April.
Economists had forecast
a 2.0 per cent m-o-m advance for May.
According to
the report, sales decreased in four of the seven subsectors, driven by motor vehicle and
motor vehicle parts and accessories (-3.8 per cent m-o-m).
In y-o-y terms,
wholesale sales (excluding petroleum, petroleum products, and other
hydrocarbons and excluding oilseed and grain) declined 0.9 per cent in May.
