India's annual inflation rises 4.83 per cent in April

Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) announced on Monday that India's consumer price index (CPI) surged 4.83 per cent y-o-y in April following an unrevised 4.85 per cent y-o-y climb in March. This marked the lowest annual inflation rate since May 2023 (4.31 per cent) and represented the eighth straight month inflation remained within the Reserve Bank of India's 2-6 per cent target range.

Economists had predicted annual inflation to decelerate to 4.80 per cent in April.
