The European
Commission (EC) reported on Wednesday that
its flash estimate showed the consumer confidence indicator for the Eurozone increased by 0.6 percentage points to -14.9 in March from an unrevised -15.5 in the previous month. This was the highest reading since February
2022 (-9.4).
Economists had predicted
the index to improve to -15.0 early this month.
Considering the
European Union (EU) as a whole, the consumer sentiment indicator also rose by 0.6 percentage points to -15.2 in March.
Despite this month’s advances, both indicators remained well below their long-term averages.
