The European
Commission (EC) inforned on Friday its flash estimate revealed the consumer
confidence indicator for the Eurozone dropped by 0.7 percentage points to -14.5
in December from a downwardly revised -13.8 (from -13.7) in the previous month.
This marked the lowest reading since April (-14.7).
Economists
had predicted the index to slip to
-14.0 early this month.
Considering the
European Union (EU) as a whole, the consumer sentiment indicator declined by 1.0 percentage points to -13.4 in December.
With this
month’s decreases, both indicators moved further below their long-term
averages.
