EUR traded mixed against other major currencies in the European session on Tuesday as investors waited for the remarks from several European Central Bank officials later in the day.
The single European currency rose versus CAD and JPY, fell versus AUD and SEK, and changed little versus USD, GBP and CHF.
The ECB’s president Christine Lagarde is due to give an interview on Bloomberg TV at 14:00 GMT. In addition, Lagarde is scheduled to participate in the panel discussion during the IMF/WB Annual Meetings in Washington at 19:15 GMT.
Apart from the ECB’s boss, comments are expected to come from the ECB’s chief economist Philip Lane (at 15:00 GMT and 20:00 GMT) and the ECB’s Board member Elizabeth McCaul (at 20:15 GMT).
Investors will scrutinize their remarks for hints on the central bank’s plans for interest rates.
