Chicago Fed president Goolsbee: We've shifted now to a more normal, balanced-risk environment

Chicago Federal Reserve president Austan Goolsbee said in an interview with CNBC that the U.S. inflation data for September, released earlier today, came in around expectations. "Overall trend is clearly that inflation has come down a lot," he added.

The official also unveiled that there have been a series of 'close call' type meetings of the Federal Reserve and suggested that there will probably be more such gatherings.

Goolsbee noted that a lot of data will come before the Fed's next rate decision but stressed that nothing is ever off the table. "We don't want to get ahead or behind," he added.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Fed president acknowledged that the U.S. job market has cooled to a level of full employment. "We've shifted now to a more normal, balanced-risk environment," he concluded.
