BoC's deputy governor Kozicki: BoC's policymakers expect QT to end sometime in 2025

Bank of Canada deputy governor Sharon Kozicki stated on Thursday that it is reasonable to expect further cuts if inflation continues to ease, echoing the view of the BoC's governor Tiff Macklem. She also noted that the BoC's policymakers are taking interest rate decisions one meeting at a time.

The official also unveiled that the BoC is putting together an in-depth review of all its exceptional actions taken during the pandemic, the final report on which will be published early next year.

She added that the BoC's policymakers expect quantitative tightening (QT) to end sometime in 2025 and noted that the unwinding of quantitative easing (QE) through QT has gone smoothly.
