European Central Bank Governing Council member Pablo Hernandez de Cos stated on Tuesday that, in his opinion, it would be appropriate to start reducing interest rates in June if inflation continues to decline as expected.
The official also reminded that the euro area's inflation was anticipated to continue decreasing in the coming quarters, although at a softer pace than last year due to some upward base effects.
De Cos, however, stressed that the ECB should continue to follow a data-dependent approach at each meeting, given that uncertainty is still high.
